Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Further info on working with us

Since 2013 we have helped thousands of individuals, creatives and small-large businesses produce their ideas with our laser cutting, engraving and UV printing service.

Sometimes things are clear to us that might not be for you and we’re always happy to go over anything you aren’t clear on. It benefits both all of us to be on the same page before starting an order.

Please read our frequently asked questions all about UV printing, laser cutting and engraving. If you have a question that hasn’t been answered, please contact us.

General FAQs

1. What is your turnaround time?

Our standard turnaround time is 8 working days from payment received to the completion and dispatch date.

Our capacity can fluctuate during quieter and busier periods so this can change, we’re able to advise you of this at enquiry and quotation stage.

We are a family run business so we do close for two weeks over the Christmas holiday period and we can close during the year for a holiday, however this is planned and shown in our production calendar which can be found here:

2. Do you have minimum order quantities?

We don’t! The aim for our laser cutting, engraving and UV printing service has always been to be as accessible as possible.

One offs allow you to prototype an idea before committing to a full production run.

We highly recommend ordering samples of your designs to check before ordering in larger quantities.

3. Do I need to have my files ready to receive a quotation?

If your files are ready it allows us to produce a quotation faster for you.

However, we understand that not everyone has the software, skills or time to prepare this in advance of a quotation.. sometimes you just need a price before you can start planning!

If you need help creating laser cut products then please provide as much information as possible, the following information will help us to prepare an estimate:

  1. A description of your project (any reference images or sketches are also helpful)
  2. The materials you’d like to use
  3. Dimensions
  4. Quantity
  5. Deadline date required (if applicable)

4. What if I can’t prepare the files you require?

Not a problem! Our qualified Graphic Designer will discuss the project with you via email and work from your guidance to prepare the files for you.

Artwork set up fees are a one off cost, we store the files for any repeat orders.

If you’re looking for an estimate we are happy to provide one based on rough guidelines from you, but we will still need to have a detailed description of what you’re looking for.

Before getting in touch make sure you’ve visited the How to Order page to collate all of your information together following the easy steps.

Email is our preferred method of contact for quotes, quoting over the phone is difficult due to the amount of information required to calculate your quote.

5. What file formats do you accept?

We work with vector files for engraving and laser cutting using Coreldraw and Adobe Illustrator software. However, we can open formats saved from other software. Below is a button for our Artwork Set Up Guide.

For UV printing we work with vector files and raster graphics in CMYK colour format. If parts of your design need white ink or gloss ink the designs would need to be submitted as vector artwork.

If you’re unable to supply files in these formats please send us what you do have and we can advise you further.

6. What materials can I use?

Take a look at our Materials List for more information, if you have a bespoke request or you would like to supply the materials please get in touch as we are happy to accommodate this.

We are unable to work with Vinyl or any material containing PVC, sheet metals and glass.

We are also restricted by certain thicknesses and material must be flat.

We keep a certain amount of materials in stock, however due to the bespoke nature of most projects it is not possible to keep a large amount of every material available to us. When a quote is prepared for you we will factor in any delivery time for the materials needed, though the courier service available from our suppliers is 24 hour.

7. How will my order be delivered?

We use Royal Mail and Parcelforce for our deliveries, the choice of service depends on the size, weight and quantity. We only ever charge what the delivery and packaging material costs us.

If you’re local you’re also welcome to collect from our workshop.

If you’d prefer to use your own courier you are welcome to do so, please mention this when discussing your order.

8. Are these size restrictions on the materials you can cut/engrave?

Our UV printer bed is 610mm x 458mm with a 200mm depth.

Our laser cutting machine bed can fit materials up to 1000mm x 600mm and a 200mm depth.

However we are limited to the thicknesses that we can cut, please review our materials list.

9. How eco-friendly are your processes?

As a business that works with wood and plastic materials we’re very conscious of our impact on the environment.

We are carbon neutral, see this blog article for more information.

The solid wood we use is sustainable and sourced within 20 miles of our premises. The plywood we use is sourced from Europe.

We have invested in quality, energy friendly machinery. Our workshop is in a central location to be close to staff, delivery depots and easily accessible by public transport for visitors.

We recycle as much of our waste material as possible and all of our packaging material is reused or recycled if we can’t reuse it. You may receive your order in a box that had a previous life and we encourage our customers to reuse or recycle where they can.

The UV inks we use have Eco credentials (please ask for more information).

Christmas Production FAQs (Only)

1. I HAVEN’T USED YOUR CHRISTMAS SERVICE BEFORE, IS THIS FOR ME?

Our offer to book your Christmas production early is for everyone! All you need is a quote for your project, an agreed completion date and to have paid a non refundable 50% deposit to confirm the booking.

Not only will it secure your production slot in advance but also help to spread the cost of production and even allow you to start taking orders, knowing when the product will arrive!

Get in touch to find out about working with us.

2. I’M NOT CERTAIN ON THE QUANTITIES I’D LIKE TO ORDER JUST YET, CAN I STILL BOOK A SLOT?

Yes! For example, if you book based on an estimate or quote of 100 and pay a 50% deposit to book your slot but your final order is smaller you’ll just have a smaller balance to pay than original quoted for.

If you would like to order more than in your quotation, we would need to have this in writing a minimum of two weeks before your production is due to start so that we can adjust the timeframe based on scheduled production or if it’s possible to work to the existing deadline.

3. IF I PLACE MY ORDER AND IT SELLS QUICKLY OR MY STOCKISTS NEED MORE, AM I ABLE TO ORDER AGAIN BETWEEN SEPTEMBER – DECEMBER?

Yes, we will be holding some production availability during this time. We’re not usually able to guarantee our standard 8 working days during this time which is why we’ve created this offer.

Although we’re opening our production diary in Summer to help you get ahead by securing a production slot, we understand that you may need more of your product before Christmas and plan to have availability for our typical 8-10 working day turnaround where possible.

4. IF I WANT TO MAKE CHANGES TO THE ARTWORK THAT THE QUOTATION HAS BEEN BASED ON, IS THIS POSSIBLE?

Absolutely, you’re welcome to change the artwork right up until eight working days before production which is when your final artwork is due. However, if the dimensions, shape or material changes then our quotation will change to reflect this.
